What it does
Protects against power surges
This device is designed to protect your Allen organ power voltage spikes and surges that travel through the power cord. It also filters other stray electrical 'noises' that may be transmitted to the organ via the power line.
What id does NOT do
Completely eliminates damage from lighting strikes
If a lighting strike happens directly on the building in the immediate vicinity of the organ this device (and almost any like it) can never prevent damage from lighting strikes very close to the organ. This is partly due to the fact that it would take a LOT more than a small little box to stop the power of lighting. Also, the electric charge in lighting doesn't always travel through the power cord. The charge also can travel through the air (which is where the lighting comes from in the first place) to the organ if it is close enough.
Provide and 'insurance policy'
Although this device is designed to provide the best protection possible for your organ there is NO type of insurance protection included with its purchase. Most devices that provide this type of service have significant stipulations in their policy that make it less than useful (requiring you to mail the damaged device to the insurance company, significant usage and coverage limitations, etc.). This device focuses on providing a technically good product. If you want insurance for your organ, we recommend contacting a reputable insurance company instead.
Why do we need it?
To protect against voltage spikes
Damage to your organ is not just possible from lighting strikes. It is much more likely that you would have variances in the power circuit that your organ is plugged into. You may not notice this with other devices (light bulbs, fans, etc.), which have little to no electronic components; however, the electronic components inside your Allen organ can easily be damaged by those fluctuations - especially organs that are now getting close to 50- or 60-years-old.
To protect against 'line noise'
Our churches and homes are adding more and more electronic devices. Most of those devices can transmit electrical 'noise' onto the power line. This can cause audible noises on your organ and potentially even effect the functional operation of the organ. Using a suppressor like this device can help reduce the impact of those in your organ.
When is the best time to get one?
As with many safety/security devices, the best time to buy is YESTERDAY, and the second best is TODAY, but the worst time is TOMORROW.
